The Bastogne War Museum

As a museum experience, this was really first class. You received a complimentary wifi headphone set that took you through the war from the experience of four real people. A 13 year old Belgian boy. A Belgian school teacher and member of the Resistance. A German soldier and an American paratrooper. There were several multimedia presentations.

And creepy mannequins. Because of course.

They even had a tank with a shell hole in it

I saw a young girl crying as she exited and I steeled myself for an emotionally draining experience similar to Normandy.

Yet for all the technical accomplishment it lacked the emotional punch of Normandy. More Americans died in the Bulge than in Normandy, yet they hadn't found a way to make that emotional connection.

The boys did win the battle of the gift shop
